Betonex partners with Metso for Algeria quarry facility
Betonex is an aggregates company that maintains three concrete plants producing slabs and blocks, as well as ready-mix products. The crushing and screening technology from Metso that will outfit their new plant is expected to reduce dust and build processing capacity.
"Aggregates production is the epicenter of our business, and a large part of the aggregates we produce is used by the sister companies of Benseba Group,” Karim Benesba, associate manager for Betonex, said. “This is our main reason for investing in a new Metso installation, but we also want to become a major supplier to the construction industry in the region. Housing construction programs, the Hauts Plateaux highway, and the new expressway between Anhif and Bejaia reflect the will of the government to make this a priority. We compared the production performance of our first crushing station, investment and operating costs. We expect the same quality aggregates that are produced in Europe while maintaining affordable prices for the local markets. We want to be a reference for our clients. Metso's process design with this new crushing and screening installation will supply not just a quarry, but a real aggregates production center.”
The plant will have three tiers and be capable of processing 500 tons per hour, and many of the components being installed are firsts for any Algerian facilitiy, such as Metso's Nordberg C120 jaw crusher and a PREMIER ES horizontal screen.
Benesba said the facility will help the company address demand for aggregate products in a country where building and development projects continue to outpace the production of supplies.
