Metso to provide specialty valves for Indian refinery upgrade

Metso will provide a suite of valves to Indian Oil Corp.'s Barauni refinery as the facility looks to develop a delayed coker unit.

"Continuous operation is important for profitable delayed coking," Vinay Pradhan, director of flow control for India Metso, said. "We are glad that the customer trusts our knowledge in their process needs. With Metso's valve solutions, the customer is able to lower their life-cycle costs and can extend the overhaul intervals. Our modern service center and our experienced service professionals ensure optimized maintenance activities for the customer."

Delayed coking is one of the processes refineries use for converting crude oil into liquid petroleum products, as well as producing petroleum coke, a substance similar to coal that's used to fuel various types of factories.

Indian Oil India's commercial business and accounts for close to half of the country's petroleum products, Metso officials said.

The value of the valve order will not be disclosed.
