Cummins distributors power exhibits at Elkhart Open House
“A pair of 150 kW units and distribution equipment powered up 212 Jayco coaches and towable trailers, along with a hospitality area and other show needs,” Tom Smith, rental sales manager for NPower, said. “A 60 kW unit ran power for 14 Newmar coaches. NPower supplied the distribution equipment so each coach has a 50A hookup.”
The power allowed recreational-vehicle manufacturers to showcase the features of their units to RV dealers without needing to run onboard Cummins Onan RV generators.
The open house was held this year with activities on 10 acres of display space, while NPower and Crosspoint provided rental power for displays at two locations.
The original open-house concept began as an informal, one-manufacturer event that brought dealers to Elkhart to see new RV, boat and cargo-trailer products, Alex Kotula, general manager for mobile generators, said.
“This is a significant trade event that dealers look forward to. It’s where they can see new products and sample the full range of what a huge number of OEMs have to offer,” Kotula said.
