Doosan releases two new excavators that meet EPA Tier 4 standards

Two new Doosan crawler excavators have been added to the heavy equipment company’s lineup of products that meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s Tier 4 emission reduction standards.

The new excavators were designed by Doosan to offer improved performance on top of meeting environmental requirements. The new DX140LC-5 and DX140LCR-5 Tier 4-compliant machines offer comfort for the operator, better fuel economy and longer jobsite durability.

Both models weigh in at 14 metric tons and will replace the interim Tier 4 “Dash-3” models that were on the market while Doosan engineered new systems for better environmental performance.

The DX140LCR-5 model offers a shorter tail swing, allowing operators greater flexibility where space is a premium without sacrificing performance. Both the DX140LC-5 and DX140LCR-5 excavators are designed for long life with an extra-sturdy frame and reinforced superstructure.

A new selectable feature, Smart Power Control, is available on both models and consists of two systems: Variable Speed Control and Pump Torque Control. Those work together to improve machine efficiency while maintaining productivity and reducing fuel consumption.

North Dakota-based Doosan has equipped both excavators with a 7-inch LCD screen that allows operators to monitor the excavator parameters while viewing the rearview or optional side-view camera image. Critical machine data appears next to the camera view.

To help conserve diesel fuel, Doosan added auto shutdown to both models to help owners save fuel during non-working conditions. Operators can configure the idle time from three minutes to an hour. When enabled, the feature will shut down the excavator’s engine when the preset idle time is met.
