The National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) has awarded a heavy equipment contract to Volvo Construction Equipment, which is intended to better serve state and municipal customers by streamlining access to equipment.

The NJPA is an organization that serves as a cooperative for more than 50 thousand member public agencies throughout the U.S. and parts of Canada. The agency administers cooperative purchasing contracts that allow states and municipalities to purchase equipment without organizing their own solicitation process.

The NJPA heavy equipment contract comes as Volvo is boosting services for government customers. Volvo’s government buying contract specialist Kathy Tedone said she see’s the company’s seen a doubling of governmental equipment contracts since 2012.

“The NJPA contract is just one more way Volvo Construction Equipment can better serve government and municipal clients with our extensive equipment offering,” Tedone said. “Through our North American network of dealers, government clients now have access to our full equipment line-up with an NJPA discount off list price.”

The equipment discount extends to Volvo’s entire line of heavy equipment products from excavators, wheel loaders and skid steer loaders, to articulated haulers, pavers and compactors. The NJPA contract also includes the value brand SDLG wheel loaders.

NJPA cooperative purchasing contracts are competitively solicited, saving member agencies the time and cost of seeking bids independently.
