Metso’s services transports minerals with four times less downtime

Dona Ines de Collahuasi, a mining company based in Chile, recently revealed that using Metso’s integrate service and product offering has allowed the company to transport minerals with four times less downtime.

This increased productivity is a significant achievement for any company.

"Our customers are familiar with Metso's knowledge and solutions in these types of processes,” Mauricio Carrasco, wear products and conveyor belt manager at Metso, said. “They know that our service experts have both the field experience and the factory certifications. This kind of an approach comes naturally to us, and it also saves our customers the time of having to coordinate with many different contractors working on the same project.”

The Metso solution was first taken to the company approximately one year ago. The solution allows workers to analyze and gather field data directly from the chutes with a new liner design. The design applies to three discharge chutes at the mine and also performance follow-up and other optimization. These help to guarantee that the process is an ongoing movement.

"As a company, we look for suppliers who provide an integrated service that includes engineering, manufacturing and assembly,” Manuel Vera, asset management and reliability manager at Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi, said. “Metso knew how to respond to our deadlines and objectives. In minerals transportation we've already seen the time between faults rising from 20 to 80 days, and we know that the number can be optimized even further.”
