MulchControl introduced for residential mowers by John Deere

John Deere has recently started offering a MulchControl option for its 54-inch and 60-inch high-capacity mower decks.

This option will allow users to change from the side discharge/bagging mode, to a mulching mode, with the easy use of a lever. The company hopes this feature will help keep the clippings and other assorted items that are a byproduct of mowing out of driveways, sidewalks and flowerbeds.

"MulchControl puts the operator in control of the clippings," John Deere Product Marketing Manager Kim Ridel said. "Now the operator can have all the benefits of mulching with the ability to easily change to side discharge or bagging as conditions require.”

The MulchControl lever is installed at the top of the mower deck, so the operator can engage the lever, and disengage it, with optimal ease. Changing between mulching and side-discharge mode takes only seconds as well, according to John Deere.

The MulchControl option is available on the Z600 Series EZtrak mowers, as well as the X700 Signature Series tractors. John Deere hopes to expand the installation of this option to additional models by 2016.
