Portland Cement Association recognizes Lafarge North America VP
Awards are presented in two categories of key strategic initiatives: business continuity and market development, and young leaders. Blair received his honor in the business continuity category.
Lafarge North America, a firm based in Chicago, is an industry leader in standards development, industry sustainability initiatives, research and addressing technical issues to improve business continuity. As the chair of the PCA Durability Subcommittee, Blair led the efforts to help fix the alkali-silica reactivity, sulfate attack and join deterioration in pavements.
Blair is also currently co-chair of the Product Standards and Technology Committee. There, Blair provides key guidance in the development and use of portland-limestone blended cements and helps with their acceptance issues with DOT.
The award itself is named after John P. “Jay” Gleason Jr. Gleason served as the president of the PCA from 1986 to 2007 and was known for building consensus among both members and allies. He is remembered for his stellar example of leadership and the skills one needs to fully realize what it means to be a leader and role model.
