Duane Wilder, the former president of Liebherr Construction Equipment Co., recently passed away, on Aug. 13, 2015, at his home in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Wilder was 62 years old when he died. He was a well-respected businessman. He began his career at Alpena Ford Tractor, where he was a young co-owner of the company. When he married, he moved to Iowa, where he started working in the Manager Training program of JI Case Corporation. While still at JI Case, he became the Retail Operations Manager for North America. He was based in Racine, Wisconsin.

Wilder’s business sense, strong work ethic and friendly personality helped him achieve many promotions throughout his career. Throughout his career, he led several agricultural as well as heavy equipment companies to achieve growth. He also served as the treasurer and board member for AEM as well as a board member with the AED Foundation.

Wilder served at Liebherr as the president for 11 years.

“Duane’s contributions to AED and the AED Foundation are incalculable -- it would be impossible to list them,” Robert Henderson, executive vice president and COO at Associated Equipment Distributors (AED), said. “I don’t think I’ve worked with anyone who was more loyal or committed to the industry and thus to AED. Duane was a long-serving Foundation board member when I joined the AED staff. It was clear to me that his vision and leadership were essential components in the past and future success of the Foundation. Duane’s acute wit, irrepressible sense of humor and keen intellect will be sorely missed. Duane was a significant contributor to our industry and a good friend.”
