CEO Fontana resigns from Holcim

Switzerland-based building materials company Holcim recently announced that following a public exchange offer and closing of a merger with Paris-based cement and aggregate supplier Lafarge, Holcim Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Bernard Fontana resigned from the company.

Additionally, Fontana resigned from all connections to any Holcim Group entities.

"It has been a pleasure and honor to work with remarkable and passionate people throughout the past years at Holcim," Fontana said. "I wish the new company, LafargeHolcim, and the entire team all the very best for the future."

Now  LafargeHolcim, the company will be helmed by statutory chairman of the board of directors Wolfgang Reitzle and chief executive officer Eric Olsen. The mandate of the new board of directors and executive committee took effect with the completion of the merger.

"The board of directors wishes to thank Bernard Fontana for his leadership and achievements for the group, and in particular for the successful implementation of the Holcim Leadership Journey," an official release from LafargeHolcim said.
