Doosan has signed a five-year extension for its sponsorship of the Open Championship, also known as the British Open, with The Royal & Ancient Golf Club (R&A), the company announced on Sunday.

With the extension in place, the company will serve as an official patron of the tournament through 2019. The sponsorship allows the company a chance to market itself during a major sporting championship.

The Open Championship is one of four in professional golf and has been taking place since 1861. This year's tournament will take place at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, between July 16 and 19. According to the company, this location is significant as it is the course that the 2010 Open Championship took place; this was the first year they signed on as a sponsor for the tournament.

The company will have an exhibition booth that will showcase their latest offerings, including an excavation simulation. Along with simulations relating to power plants and golf, the booth will offer water bottles and cell phone charging stations for attendees of the tournament.

The company offers a wide range of products applicable for energy production, construction, machinery tools, engines, chemical processing and other industrial and commercial sectors. They are based in Seoul, South Korea.
