Atlas Copco opens new headquarters in Detroit area

Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems opened its new 120,000-square-foot headquarters in Oakland Technology Park in Auburn Hills, Michigan with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 29.

The ceremony included executives from Atlas Copco, which was founded in Sweden in 1873, and government officials, including the Swedish Ambassador to the United States, the Mayor of Auburn Hills and the Atlas Copco CEO Ronnie Leten.

The state-of-the-art facility about 30 miles north of Detroit will replace a previous location on Dutton Road. It will employ roughly 225 employees working in the motor vehicle, heavy industrial and general manufacturing industries. Additionally, the headquarters is expected to create approximately 50 jobs in its first year.

“Our expansion into a new, larger facility supports the strong growth and increased demand for Atlas Copco’s tooling and assembly systems,” Atlas Copco General Manager Anders Hoberg said. “Auburn Hills is our home, and this new facility is a sign of our continued commitment to our employees and customers in the Detroit region.”

The facility will house the SCA Schucker business unit, as well as administrative, technical and marketing staff.
