Metso promotes health through housekeeping campaign in Chile
The company recently identified that one of the reasons that it has work-related accidents is because of misplaced equipment and tools or, in general, a disorganized work environment. To remedy this and increase awareness of proper management’s role within the workplace, Metso began a campaign.
"For Metso, safety initiatives like this one are important to maintain and to further improve our low work accident rates, which enable us to help our customers achieve their results,” Manuel Guzmán, risk prevention, environment and quality manager for the Pacific Rim, said. “Having these forums to raise awareness on safety activities gives us a great opportunity to continue innovating in these areas.”
The campaign, titled “Housekeeping – Key to Productivity and Safety,” focused on two main issues. First was the importance of keeping good order. Second was the cleanliness of work spaces and the hazard identification as well as risk assessment in tasks that appear to be routine.
The targets of the campaign included all of the company’s employees in Chile, particularly those working within operational areas. These include the distributions center, the factory, the service center, and other Metso offices throughout Chile.
