Ryerson Holding Corp., a top distributor and processor of metals, announced Wednesday that it has acquired Southern Tool Steel (STS), a privately owned metals service center company based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
STS has a broad, diverse, transactional account base. It specializes in plate and bar processing and also grinding capabilities.
STS has approximately 90 employees at two locations in the southeastern U.S. The company’s customer base includes tool and die shops, automotive manufacturers, machine shops, appliance manufacturers, energy providers and aerospace parts manufacturers.
"STS brings extensive bar and plate processing capabilities to Ryerson, consistent with our focus on long products and value-added services," Ryerson President and CEO Eddie Lehner said. "Moreover, like our acquisition of Fay Industries announced in January 2015, we are joined by a company in STS that creates exceptional customer experiences in the southern U.S. market. We welcome Arnold (STS CEO Arnold Erwin) and the STS team to Ryerson."
Ryerson has headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, and its operations extend throughout the U.S., China, Canada, Brazil and Mexico. Its products are used in packaging, construction, and oil, gas, and truck trailers.
"Joining Ryerson enables Southern Tool Steel to capitalize on our growth opportunities and fulfill our primary objective, which is to solve problems and provide superior service to customers," STS CEO Arnold Erwin said.
