General Services Administration contract given to Mack Defense for Mack Granite models

The Mack Granite model chassis is built to face harsh weather and extreme payloads, and for that the General Services Administration (GSA) gave Mack Defense an indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity contract.

Mack Defense, part of the Volvo Group, announced the contract on July 2.

The contract extends through Nov. 30, 2015, with an optional renewal period through March 31, 2017.

The GSA plan is to outfit the Mack Granite model chassis with wrecker and carrier bodies from another agency; the military and federal civilian customers will be the end users of the project.

“These wreckers and carriers, some with a capacity of up to 60 tons, face tough, demanding conditions every day,” said Ryan Werling, president of Mack Defense, in a press release. “With its rugged, durable frame and proven power from the MP8 engine, the Mack Granite serves as the perfect foundation for these recovery vehicles.”
